| Sacrament of Baptism |
Baptism is the basis of the whole Christian life, the gateway to life in the Spirit, and the door which gives access to the other sacraments.” CCC 1213 It is through our baptism that we become members of Christ and his Church where we join together in the ongoing mission of loving God and one-another and spreading the Good News to all people.
The baptism of children is a far more common practice in our church today. It is ideal to celebrate the Sacrament within the celebration of Holy Eucharist with the community gathered around to pray for the child and the parents. At Spirit of Life, we reserve the first weekend of every month for baptisms at all four regularly scheduled mass times. Baptisms outside of mass are scheduled individually with one of our priests or deacons. To have your child baptized, contact Fr. Chad at 663-1660 or by email Fr. Chad to set up an appointment for preparation. More than one meeting may be required to complete the formation and preparatory period. For additional contact information refer to the "Parish Contact Information" link. |
We celebrate the Sacrament of Baptism in two main forms. Adults are generally baptized on the Easter Vigil after a period of formation, though in special cases approval can be obtained to celebrate the Sacrament almost any other day of the year. Generally, when celebrated on the Easter Vigil, the individual will also receive the Sacraments of Confirmation and Holy Eucharist at the same time. If you are interested in learning more about adult baptism or would like to be baptized, contact Fr. Chad Gion.
