| Sacrament of Confirmation |
“Then they (Peter and John) laid hands on them and they received the Holy Spirit.” ~ Acts 8:17
The Sacrament of Confirmation is imparted with two sacred signs: the laying on of hands and the anointing with the oil of Chrism. These signs set the seal of the Holy Spirit upon us which marks our total belonging to Christ, our enrollment in his service forever, as well as the promise of divine protection at the end of time. Our Confirmation program is directed toward students in their sophomore year of high school. The goal of our confirmation program is to help participants better understand the Catholic faith and the role of Confirmation in the life of a Catholic today. We meet approximately twice a month on Wednesday evenings throughout the year as well as 1 retreat held on a Sunday afternoon. To register for this program, please contact Tony Ternes at 663-1660. Confirmation, along with the Sacraments of Baptism and Eucharist, constitute the Sacraments of Initiation. At certain times in history and in some locations today the 3 Sacraments are celebrated together for young and old. At Spirit of Life, they are generally separated with baptism around the time of birth, Eucharist around the age of 7, and Confirmation for young adults age 15 and older. However, adults who wish to be baptized receive all three on the same night, usually Holy Saturday Night, the greatest celebration of the Church year. If you are an adult seeking information on Adult Baptism, Confirmation and Eucharist contact Fr. Chad.
