Sacrament of Reconciliation

During his public life Jesus not only forgave sins, but also made plain the effect of this forgiveness: he reintegrated forgiven sinners into the community of the People of God from which sin had alienated or even excluded them.  (CCC1 443)

The Sacrament of Reconciliation is one very concrete way we experience this forgiveness and reintegration into the Body of Christ today.  The Sacrament is available every Saturday from 3:30 – 4:30 PM in the Reconciliation Chapel and also any time by appointment made through the parish office.  Also, communal reconciliation services are held during the seasons of Advent and Lent.

1st Reconciliation
The celebration of one’s 1st Reconciliation is commonly combined with the preparation and reception of 1st Holy Communion.  At Spirit of Life, we celebrate this for children around the age of 7 in a family centered program of 8 sessions where both parents/guardians and children participate.  The first 4 sessions focus on preparing for 1st Reconciliation and the second 4 sessions focus on 1st Holy Communion.  For more information, contact Fr. Chad.

Adults joining the church or children older than 10 years of age may also be prepared for and receive the Sacrament of Reconciliation by contacting Fr. Chad.  Typically, adults who are joining the Church receive instruction during their journey through the Rite of Christian Initiation of Adults.  If you have any questions about receiving the Sacrament for the 1st time, contact Fr. Chad.
